Lose Weight With Sleeve Gastrectomy
Sleeve gastrectomy, also known as gastric sleeve surgery, is a highly effective weight loss procedure designed to help individuals with severe obesity achieve significant, long-term weight loss. The procedure involves removing a large portion of the stomach, leaving a smaller, tube-like structure (the "sleeve") that limits food intake and helps control hunger. This surgery is typically recommended for patients with a high BMI and suffer from obesity-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, or sleep apnea. Our dedicated team will guide you through the process, providing the care and resources needed to help you achieve your weight loss goals and improve your overall health.
How It Works
Also referred just as “The Sleeve” is a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach by approximately 80%.
The stomach is freed up from the surrounding tissues and special stapling devices are used to cut it in a banana shape. Besides making the stomach smaller, it changes hormones that control hunger and the feeling of fullness (satiety) leading to weight and blood sugar control.
Potential Risks
As with any surgery, there are risks associated with bariatric surgery, including bleeding, infection, pain and blood clots. In general, patients who undergo bariatric surgery must also make lifestyle changes, including following a specific diet and exercise program, in order to achieve and maintain weight loss in the long term.
Recovery
It varies, but most patients can return to work and other normal activities within 1-2 weeks.
