Lap Band Removal
Lap Band For Weight Loss
This is performed when the patient has not achieved significant weight loss with the lap band and wishes to pursue other weight loss options or when the patient is experiencing intolerances to certain foods or symptoms such as vomiting or reflux or when the patient is experiencing abdominal pain or discomfort due to the lap band itself.
How It Works
This is done for a variety of reasons such as band slippage, erosion, or infection. It is also performed when the patient has not achieved significant weight loss with the lap band and wishes to pursue other weight loss options or when the patient is experiencing intolerances to certain foods or symptoms such as vomiting or reflux or when the patient is experiencing abdominal pain or discomfort due to the lap band itself. After the lap band is removed, patients may experience some temporary side effects such as abdominal pain, bloating, and nausea. They will also need to follow a specific diet and exercise program to help them maintain their weight loss goals. In some cases, lap band removal is followed by a revisional bariatric procedure to help the patient achieve further weight loss.
